The Role

The Job:

The Heights School, Burnley have a position for an experienced and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join the school in 2024 on a full time and permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, supportive and hard-working team where the successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and to help instil a love for scientific exploration among our students.


What does this job do?

  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/form tutor.
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
  • To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.


What are the job requirements?

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Qualified to at least degree level in an Science based subject/or adequate post degree conversion course
  • Ability to deliver consistently high quality lessons in this subject to pupils of all ages and abilities
  • Up to date knowledge of the Sciences curriculum and developments for them.
  • Experience of leading a team such as form tutors in the development and implementation of a curriculum initiative that had a sustained and demonstrable impact on pupil progress
