The Role

The Job:

Due to internal progression within the Trust, Eden School have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Deputy Headteacher to lead on SEND within the school. You will play a crucial role in assisting the Headteacher to secure an outstanding education for students and in creating an environment where there are the highest expectations for all members of the school community. What does this job do?

  • Ensure a commitment to high quality teaching, learning and achievement.
  • To undertake strategic planning, contributing to school self-evaluation sharing responsibility for developing and implementing the School Improvement Plan.
  • To deputise for the Headteacher in their absence from school.
  • Work with the Headteacher to ensure the school and the people and resources within it are organised and managed to provide an efficient, effective and safe learning environment.
  • To undertake the role of SENCO including the oversight, co-ordination, development and evaluation of SEND Policy and Practice across the school.
  • To analyse and interpret local and national data on SEND relating to pupil premium pupils and pupils with SEND.
  • To maintain a high standard of learning support across all year groups.
  • To make recommendations to parents concerning the use of external agencies for identifying SEND.

  • SENCO Qualification
  • Experience of leadership 
  • Experience of managing staff including setting performance management objectives and holding to account
  • Experience of delivering high quality INSET to staff

Eden is a small special school for young people aged 8-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), which currently has up to 60 pupils on roll. We pride ourselves in delivering our SHINE values of success, health, inspire, nurture and empower, as we strive to attain the best outcomes possible for our pupils.
