The Role

The Job:


We are seeking to appoint a part time School Staff Instructor (SSI) working one day a week during term time to support the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) output at the school and provide liaison between the Contingent and Regional Army Headquarters. You will need to be prepared to work flexible hours when on weekends and camps away from home.

 

This position would be suitable for an ex-regular or reservist SNCO/officer or someone who has extensive experience of the cadet forces, but this is not essential as training will be given. 


The annual salary is £4,639 per annum with the option to claim up to 51 days volunteer allowance through the MOD at the current rate of £90.96 per day.

 

The Job


  • Reconnaissance. Attending recces of proposed activities from an administrative standpoint and liaison with catering/accommodation points of contact.
  • Confirming and arranging Cadet activities and Cadet Training Team attendance.
  • The operation of administrative support for the Contingent during external activities.
  • Managing the Contingent Forecast of Events and carrying out action where required to ensure activities take place.


Job Requirements

 

  • Extensive experience of the cadet forces, but this is not essential as training will be given
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Approachable, friendly, and sympathetic
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, know when to listen, when to challenge and when to signpost


About Carr Hill High School:



Carr Hill is situated in the market town of Kirkham in the Fylde, just over a mile from exit 3 of the M55 and with very easy transport links from a wide radius in the north west of England. Kirkham is just 9 miles from the coastal town of Lytham St Annes and an easy drive to the Lake District or Trough of Bowland. Kirkham is also served by Kirkham and Wesham train station.

 

The school is 11-16 and has an average of 180 students in each year group. Students come from over 25 different primary schools though there are a core group of feeder schools. Historically there are a significant number of army families due to the proximity of the barracks at Weeton which will have a new regiment in summer 2024. As the only state school in the immediate area, Carr Hill is a truly comprehensive school with a wide range of ability and social background.
